For some people it is the business and hectic schedule that prohibits them from entering a committed relationship. For others work is used as a way to avoid being alone. Other professional singles may be shy and don’t know how to branch out and let others know they are looking for a serious relationship. And there are others who don’t want to be rejected so they work more hours to avoid the possibility of facing rejection. These road blocks shouldn’t hinder anyone from pursuing the relationship they desire. Love is eternal with great reward while work is temporal and only provides short term satisfaction.
Whatever is priority in your life will take precedence. If work is the most important thing to you, then you’ll invest your time and affection at work. If truly desire to pursue a committed relationship, it may need to more up on your priority list. If all of your time is invested at work you’ll need to reconsider your day. Purposely schedule time to go out and meet other professional singles. Go to the local bar, coffee shops or bookstore to talk and interact with other people. Don’t allow work to hinder you.
If you’ve been rejected before you understand the pain and hurt it breeds. Many people avoid intimacy again after a bad experience with rejection. Although this is normal to feel a bit restricted, it is in your best interest to work through these emotions to heal your heart and restore you trust in people. Find someone you’re close with whether that be a family member, a friend or a counselor to share your hurts with. Allow them to be a sounding board to help you process your emotions and thoughts.
If you feel somewhat hesitant and a bit shy to break out of your normal routine, don’t stress over it. No one said you have to jump right into a serious relationship. Take small steps that could lead to bigger steps. Before you know it you’ll be in the middle of many meaningful relationships. If someone at work is of interest to you, simply have lunch with them and talk about life, work and thing that matter. This way you’ll get a good feel for them to see if they’re a good fit for you.
If you find yourself using work to avoid rejection, something needs to change. Work should never be used as a time-filler for you to avoid facing rejection. When people are afraid of something they tend to over control situations. If you find yourself controlling every minute of your day, you need to slowly let go of the control and allow the natural process of the day to lead you on the adventure of life.
Regardless of your situation, professional singles are looking to engage in purposeful and lasting relationships. Take some time and get alone to process your life and thoughts. Step away from your hectic schedule and allow yourself to experience the wonderful reward of just going for it. You can do it with a little evaluation and action.
